WebDevStudios is proud to announce the launch of another great WordPress blog! FinishingNotes.com is the vision of Sarah DeDonato who was looking to create a blog where she could show others how to bring the beauty, creativity and the quality found throughout the world back to your own home. In her blog, she also highlights experiences that will enrich your life and create memories. She is “always on the hunt for innovative, functional, well-made and meaningful items as well as enlivening experiences” and we believe her new site provides a clean and well organized way for her to catalog her discoveries.
FinishingNotes.com is the first project designed by our newest designer, Justin Sternberg using the popular Genesis theme framework and he did a great job! He took Sarah’s clear vision of a magazine style blog that would provide her with a top ten list for each blog post and made a stylish and clean design that completely fit her personal style.
One of the special features of FinishingNotes.com is her top ten list that go along with each post. To make her top ten list we installed the custom field template plugin and stored it as post meta data. On the admin side each blog post provides Sarah with the main post area to provide a summary of her list and sections 1 through 10 below.
As you can see above, the admin side of the blog post is is well organized and easy to set up. She has the ability to add images and embed videos for each section just as a classic blog post. On the front end each item looks clean and easy to read.
Sarah also asked for a footer with a special feature. She wanted the ability to display a set of past blog posts across the bottom of the website. We used the Genesis featured post widget to add the featured image and title of each post.. Now Sarah is able to display her most recent posts or a specific category of posts on every page of her website.
Last, we want to congratulate Justin Sternberg, on completing his first project as a member of the WebDevStudio team! He did a great job that both WebDevStudios and Sarah are proud to show off!
