Ryan has had an interest in computers since his family got their first computer in 1996. He went from building websites in pure HTML in the late 90′s (blinking text included!) to learning PHP and eventually settling on WordPress in 2004. Wait, 2004 you say? Yes. He’s been using and developing for WordPress for over 8 years. One of Ryan’s earlier contributions to the WordPress community is the no longer maintained WP Contact Form. After consulting on and off over the years, Ryan formed Fusionized Technology and officially got into full time WordPress consulting in 2011. His experience with WordPress has allowed him to get a wide range of clients from individuals to Fortune 500 companies.
Ryan loves to BBQ and smokes meat all year long. One of his favorite things to make is pulled pork– but he also cooks ribs, chicken, brisket… well, pretty much anything you can cook on a smoker. In the summer he hosts a big gathering and cooks all sorts of BBQ for 70+ people. He’s 99% sure this is actually why he got hired by WebDevStudios.
Aside from working on WordPress things and cooking BBQ, he loves getting out to community events and hanging out with his WordPress family in real life. It’s always fun to go to an event and meet people you’ve known online for years. He’s spoken at various WordCamps and most recently attended the WordPress Community Summit and Pressnomcs. His goal is to expand his community horizon outside of the United States and attend at least one international WordCamp per year.
When he’s not nose deep in WordPress code he’s usually working on some sort of personal project like his own sites, or tinkering with his server to make it faster. You’ll often hear him talking about the weather on twitter, especially in the winter. In the summer he spends his free time outside enjoying his yard with his wife and kids or working in his large vegetable garden.
