Blog.Woodcraft.com is the official blog for Woodcraft Supply created by WebDevStudios. WoodCraft is the popular 80-year-old seller of the finest woodworking tools, woodworking plans, and woodworking supplies to America’s woodworkers. WebDevStudios built the site using the WordPress platform and also built custom functionality that was needed to enable the company to host an artistry wood carving contest. This functionality provided contestants with the ability to register for the contest online as well as upload photos of their project. The site also features an online photo gallery showcasing all of the contestants’ submissions.
WebDevStudios used the WordPress plugin Gravity Forms in conjunction with custom fields and a custom template to create the contest entry form and photo gallery. WebDevStudios also built a plugin to extend Gravity Forms to allow for photo moderation. Woodcraft wanted to use WordPress for the contest but wanted the contest pages to appear to visitors that they were still on the main Woodcraft site which was not built in WordPress. In order to achieve this, WebDevStudios modified the WordPress theme with a custom php script to give the contest pages the same look as their original website.

We recently worked with Michael Corwin on his new photography website, MobbedMusic and we think this is a great example of just how versatile WordPress is! Michael was looking to create a website with functionality similar to that of TasteSpotting.com, but with a focus on music and concert photographers and connecting photographers with fans, artists and industry professionals. Instead of the “normal” content of posts and comments, Mobbed Music allows the user to upload images and vote for their favorites.
