WDS Github Releases for March 2015

Every month, WDS releases a bunch of goodies over on Github (and occasionally WordPress.org and elsewhere). While we typically share the links on our social media, we know that it’s easy for things to get lost in the noise, so we will be bringing you our top releases of every month. While the vast majority are on Github, we’ll sometimes also be featuring non-Github releases as well.

Catch up on last month’s releases and check out our choice releases for March 2015:

Versions 2.0.3/2.0.4/2.05 of CMB2

If you’ve been paying attention, you’ve already heard about CMB2! If you haven’t, take a gander at Justin Sternberg’s blog post on the CMB2 WordPress Plugin.

Version 2.0.3 had the most enhancements, including:

Version 2.0.4 and Version 2.0.5 focused mostly on bug fixes that were released quickly to make sure everything was right!

If you’re interested in learning more about CMB2, Justin also recently put up a post on using CMB2 to create new post submission forms.

WDS – Harden Soft 404s

Basically, here’s how Justin described this to me:

If you were to go to a WP site to search for “ponies” and there were no ponies on the site, you’d get an empty search result page, but there’s an http status code that gets sent out (you do not see it as a browser, but bots see it), so the bot will sometimes receive a signal that says that ponies are there when they aren’t. This plugin prevents google/search engines seeing that your empty search results (or empty archive pages) are not so empty (and turns it into 404).

AppPresser Plugins

AppPresser released updates for all plugins; you can find more information about that here.

WebDevStudios fork of Automattic’s _s Starter Theme

According to Greg, the team “basically re-wrote all of our Sass partials to better integrate with Bourbon and Neat,” and re-organized them all into a folder-sub-folder structure.

Did any of you out there use any of these this month? Did you see other Github releases that tickled your fancy? Link us up in the comments!
