We just can’t seem to get enough of WordCamps! Between the camaraderie among users and developers, seeing old friends and making new ones, and the wealth of information that is shared by expert speakers, who can blame us for being such big fans of these WordPress conferences? That’s why you’ll find WebDevStudios (WDS) and Maintainn at WordCamp Las Vegas (WCLV), September 7-8, 2019 at The Plaza in Downtown Las Vegas. In fact, Maintainn, the small business website design, hosting, maintenance, and support division of our company, is a proud Bronze Sponsor of the event.
“We wanted Maintainn to participate as a sponsor for WordCamp Las Vegas because it just seemed like the right opportunity to give back to WordPress and connect with an active WordPress community,” explains Brad Williams, CEO. “Plus, having three team members at the event, readily available to answer questions about our services, seemed like a bonus—a chance to support them, too.”
Our team members in attendance at WCLV are Director of Business Development, Jodie Riccelli, Project Manager, Ashley Harrison, and me, Laura Coronado, Communications Specialist.
Jodie Riccelli
Jodie is active speaker and WordCamp organizer. At WCLV, she will be presenting a talk called, “Building Successful Client Relationships in a Digital Age.”
“There is a delicate balance between using modern tools and interpersonal communication,” says Jodie, when asked about the purpose of her presentation. “Just because you CAN email someone doesn’t mean you shouldn’t also pick up the phone.”
Jodie explains that the reason she is such an active speaker is because doing so gives her the opportunity to give back to WordPress. “What ends up happening is that attendees give so much back to me. I always learn so much from the community,” she says.
When the chance to speak at WCLV arose, she couldn’t resist. “It’s Vegas Baby!” she exclaims, adding, “Also the organizing team is amazing and I was excited to see what they came up with.” Don’t miss Jodie’s talk on Sunday, September 8th at 2 p.m. in the Arts District, where you will learn more about forging client relationships in an age when face-to-face communication isn’t commonplace.
Ashley Harrison
Are you sitting down? This is Ashley’s first-ever WordCamp event!
“WordCamps seem like a great way to make connections and to stay on top of the latest website trends, technology and security,” Ashley says. She adds that she is looking forward to many of the talks, but her top three are “What You Thought You Knew About WordPress Security! (with Real Hacked Site Stories)” by Rob Marlbrough, “Own Your WordPress: How To Optimize” by Amy Kamala Fiske, and “She Said, He Said: Hackers’ Guide To Coding” by Shelby Sapusek and Jim Raffel.
What’s especially great about Ashley’s attendance is that she is also volunteering to help at registration, which begins at 7:50 a.m. Be sure to look for her friendly face. And if WCLV is your first WordCamp event, too, then read this blog post, “Going to Your First WordCamp? Here’s What You Need to Know!”
Laura Coronado
My talk is titled, “Who Are You? Using Voice and Tone to Support Your Brand’s Message,” and it’s about personifying your brand through the use of voice and tone in all of your content. We get lots of compliments about our content and social media for WDS, Maintainn, and Pluginize, so I want to offer a few of my secrets.
Complete with an after party on Saturday at The Pool at The Plaza, WordCamp Las Vegas is destined to be a hit. See the full schedule here. A few tickets are still available. Get yours now.
