We are marching our way to Five for the Future (5FTF), a WordPress initiative designed to encourage WordPress agencies and entrepreneurs to donate 5% of company time to the platform and community. What better way to spring into a new season than by contributing to WordPress? That’s what WebDevStudios (WDS) will be doing tomorrow, March 26, 2021.
Yes, we are full of puns at WDS, but we’re also full of passion for open-source technology, as we dedicate our entire workday to contributing to the WordPress core and community. And, it’s being noticed! Popular WordPress publication, “WP Tavern,” recently featured two projects developed by WDS team members during 5FTF.
First, Support Engineer, Michael Beckwith, has dedicated some of his 5FTF time to developing Blogroll Block, a super-cool plugin that harkens back to the days of the camaraderie that once existed among independent bloggers. Then, Lead Engineer, Darren Cooney, garnered attention for his plugin, Gutenberg Block Manager, a nifty tool that allows for fine-grained block management.
Many other of WDS’ Five for the Future contributions do not acquire such fame, but that’s not why we do what we do anyway. At WebDevStudios, our mission is your success. That means the success of our clients, our staff, and of the world of WordPress. That’s why we commit the last Friday of every month to 5FTF. Nonetheless, we enjoy sharing what we’re up to! See a sample of last month’s contributions below. Keep up with our 5FTF Friday in realtime by following the hashtag #5FTF and our profile on Twitter. See ya tomorrow.
