With spring still in full swing, the energy levels at WebDevStudios (WDS) continue to run high. The WordPress initiative, Five for the Future (5FTF), is happening tomorrow, April 29, 2022. It’s our time to bloom!
At WDS, we love giving back to open-source technology and WordPress. That’s why on the last Friday of every month, our website agency sponsors our individual team members’ contributions. This includes, but isn’t necessarily limited to:
- Plugin development
- WordPress support
- Volunteering at or organizing WordCamps and WordPress Meetups
- Presentation of talks
- Video captioning
What this means is that WebDevStudios donates an entire workday of time and talent to giving back to 5FTF. The way we see it, when everyone who benefits from open-source technology and WordPress gives back to them, we all win.
You can get involved, too. We encourage you to visit the Five for the Future page at WordPress.org to get the full history of this initiative and learn how you can contribute.
You’re also invited to observe how WDS gives back. For example, read about how WDS Backend Engineer, Allen McKenzie, used his 5FTF days to develop a brand new plugin that easily generates content.
Plus, you can follow WebDevStudios on Twitter and the hashtag #5FTF to see how our team is giving back tomorrow. We love to tweet our contributions. Here are some from March’s Five for the Future Friday.
First no meeting Friday AND #5FTF. It’s a good day to be a WDS-er! Today I’m working on a #WordPress #Gutenberg block to display drone photos.

Back at it on the RPG management plugin for #5FTF today. Trying to figure out how to calculate initiative based on a bunch of saved stats, and how to save that value historically because I can’t let anything go (as evidenced by my VHS collection).
