WordCamp Milwaukee 2015! We see you rounding the bend!

WordCamp Milwaukee 2015, WordCamp Milwaukee, WordCamps, WordPress, WordPress events, learn WordPress

Oh snap! It’s summer and some of our rad WDS-ers are prepping for WordCamp Milwaukee 2015, which is July 24th-26th! Several of our rockstar folks will be speaking, and you won’t want to miss it!

Although I find it hard to believe that any of our regular readers are unfamiliar with WordCamp (come on, now!), for those of you that are completely green: WordCamps are events held all over the world where WordPress nerds unite to share their skills, insights, and learn a whole lot from a bunch of other smarties.

Parbs, Dusty, and one of our newest, Zach S, will be not only attending, but speaking!

Here are the details for their awesome sessions–don’t miss ‘em!

Friday, July 24th

All day – Foundation Friday Developer Beginner Workshop – Brad Parbs, Dustin Filippini, Emma Edgar

Attendees of this workshop will learn the fundamentals of web development using WordPress to create custom plugins, themes, and functionality. They will be covering how to set up a local site, creating custom post types, creating custom fields and metaboxes, using actions and filters, and digging deep into the use of WP_Query. These fundamentals of WordPress development will be able to jumpstart the beginner to novice developer into creating more advanced plugins and themes and take the next step as a developer.

Sunday, July 26th

2:30 PM – Field Notes: Running a Successful eCommerce Business on WordPress – Zach Stepek

Running an eCommerce business is hard work, and none of it works without a solid foundation! Having an awesome theme, some great plugins and enterprise grade hosting are only the beginning. During this session, we’ll discuss what’s worked for the team at OscarMike.org, diving into the partnerships we’ve developed, the reasoning behind some of the choices we’ve made and the realities of bootstrapping an eCommerce company. Part technical and part anecdotal, if you have any interest in running an eCommerce business on WordPress, you’ll likely find something of use in this session.

You can check out the rest of the schedule here. Make sure to grab one of the guys and say hello! We love meeting new folks! If you can’t attend, but like to follow along, but sure to follow @WordCampMKE for updates, and of course, you can always peruse the hashtag #WCMKE.
