Another month ends, and it’s another opportunity to recap WebDevStudios company news. In March, we enjoyed in-person events, released plugin updates, and celebrated a milestone.
We can’t wait to share all the fantastic company news with you. So, here we go. Let’s review what happened at WebDevStudios in March.
Events
In-person events have returned. While we respectfully complied with safety precautions by participating in WordCamps, Meetups, and other events online, we are excited to see WordPress community members in person finally.
Lucky for us, March allowed us to connect with friends in colleagues. Here are some of the events WebDevStudios (WDS) attended.
WordCamp Kerala
The first regional WordCamp in Kerala took place March 24th-25th. WDS Backend Engineer Lax Mariappan was a speaker at the event. His talk was titled “WordPress Security: How Not To Maintain Your Site,” and it covered how site owners can secure their WordPress site with actionable tips.
WordCamp Phoenix
The same weekend WordCamp Kerala took place, WordCamp Phoenix was also in action. Best of all, WebDevStudios was a proud sponsor.
WDS Account Manager Laura Byrne was a speaker. Her talk provided sales tips for pitching potential clients. It was titled “The Art of the WordPress Pitch: Relationships and Sales.” CEO Brad Williams, Frontend Engineer William Bay, and Marketing Manager Laura Coronado attended.
WordCamp Bogota
WordCamp Bogota is happening this weekend, March 31st-April 1st. Senior Frontend Engineer Alfredo Navas will be giving a talk on Full Site Editing. We’ll report more after the event.
Grand Rapids Web Development Group (GRWebDev)
One of our newest backend engineers, Topher DeRosia, spoke at the most recent GRWebDev Meetup on March 27th. In honor of WordPress’ 20th anniversary, Topher discussed contemporary web development using WordPress.
Plugin Updates & News
Keep your website healthy by keeping your plugins updated. Here are the latest updates you need to know about now.
WP Search with Algolia
Version 2.5.0 was released just days ago and included the following:
- Ability to provide templates from custom locations
- Term and user meta watcher support
- Minor updates to templates
Custom Post Type UI (CPTUI)
We have also released Version 1.13.5 of CPTUI, which is a minor security update.
Automatic Featured Images from Video
Let’s celebrate! Automatic Featured Images from Video hit a milestone by reaching 10,000 active installs.
This plugin automatically sideloads and sets the thumbnail of a YouTube or Vimeo video embedded into a blog post (if the post does not already have the featured image set). Check out this increasingly popular plugin today.
