Keith Frey is no stranger to WebDevStudios. A former Senior Backend Developer, Keith, reached out when he saw a WordPress Technical Strategist position available, saying two things brought him back to WebDevStudios: the opportunity and the people. “I’ve been a developer for nearly 20 years, so the opportunity to work in strategy and see things from that side was something I was very interested in exploring,” Keith explains. “And the people here are fantastic. Everyone is friendly and easy to work with. It’s an easy place to come to work every day.”

As a Technical Strategist, Keith evaluates client project needs and plans the roadmap of tools and integrations needed for each website effort. He creates a Project Plan that the client and project team use as their source of truth for every aspect of the website. His previous role as a Senior Backend Developer set the groundwork for the conversations Keith actively participates in now.
Solving Problems Strategically
“Being a technical strategist is very much the other side of the developer coin for me,” says Keith. “Whether I was a senior developer or a team lead, as a developer, I was always in the weeds, writing code, helping other developers solve problems, etc. As a strategist, I’m planning the projects and handing them off to developers to execute. So I still get to think like a developer, but I don’t end up actually doing the dev work myself.” Team members and clients have welcomed Keith back to WebDevStudios, which Keith recognizes. He shares, “The biggest difference for me in working at WebDevStudios is really the culture. Everyone genuinely wants to help each other.”
As someone familiar with companies that work in tech, Keith knows this is only sometimes the standard, and this made WebDevStudios stand out to him. “You can always ask even the silliest of questions without fear of being looked down on,” he says.
More About Keith
Personally, Keith enjoys music, although his musical tastes are very mixed. As a former music major in college, he learned to like a little of everything. “I spent some time playing classical music. I spent a year playing jazz. I played in a funk band and a power pop band. I’ve played classic rock, metal, and country, pretty much everything at one point or another,” Keith says. “And I still listen to all of that.” Keith also enjoys reading, with his favorite genres being sci-fi and horror, thriller, and suspense, with a dash of comics thrown in.
