Independent Contractor – FEE

We are searching for passionate, proactive people who want to help build great websites. WebDevStudios is seeking freelance frontend developers to work with our team on WordPress projects on a per-project or ongoing basis.

Responsibilities 

• Develop responsive, accessible, high-quality WordPress themes and web applications using modern workflows and tools, while following WDS Coding Standards.
• Convert layered design mockups and assets to valid PHP/HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
• Optimize web applications and assets for maximum speed, scalability, and maintainability.
• Meet documented deadlines and complete tasks in accordance with project milestones.
• Work directly with Senior or Lead Engineers on feature validation and code reviews.
• Communicate the status of your work to Project Managers and participate in project team calls as needed.
• Keep an accurate record of your time with our time tracking software.
• Be available during normal business hours as needed.

Requirements

• You have 2+ years of professional experience as a Frontend Engineer or similar position.
• Strong experience in WordPress development, Gutenberg / Full Site Editing a must.
• Proficiency (or experience) with technologies such as JavaScript, React, jQuery, PHP, working with the REST API, GraphQL, performance optimization, WordPress Multisite, accessibility (WCAG), HTML/CSS, and other modern development protocols.
• Experience using the terminal/command line.
• Experience with build tools such as Gulp and/or Webpack.
• Comfortable using Sketch/Photoshop/InVision.
• You have a strong comprehension of accessibility standards.
• You have a strong grasp of WordPress theme structure, template hierarchy, template tags, custom post meta, internationalization, and escaping/sanitization of data.
• You are knowledgeable of Git (GitHub) version control and branching strategies.
• Comfortable working on enterprise-level WordPress sites.
• Collaborative mindset: able to work with designers, project managers, and other developers

Please be ready to showcase and describe any past experience with Gutenberg / Full Site Editing and your direct role in the project’s creation.
