Discovery Communications is a well-known global mass media and entertainment company that brings joy to the masses with popular television like the Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, Investigation Discovery, EuroSport, and more.
CrimeFeed is Investigation Discovery’s news blog that covers the latest updates on crime, missing persons, unsolved mysteries, and more.
WebDevStudios developed this site to be uniquely interactive with its users using custom development of widgets and tools. We gave users the ability to interact with the site by commenting, liking, and sharing articles across various social media outlets. We also built the custom theme based off of designs provided by the client.
Crimelines is a custom built feature that WebDevStudios created using Custom Post Types and Taxonomies. The Crimeline takes you back through the years to dig deep into crime history. You can view an entire Crimeline from start to finish or zoom in for minute-by-minute details.
The ‘Go To Crimeline’ button shows you all of the events that took place during that time in the form of a easy to understand timeline. You have the ability to click on a specific year, date, and even down to the minute. Clicking on one of the events of the crime allows you to dive deeper into the exact details that occurred.
Site Maintenance / Refresh
The Investigation Discovery team has retained WebDevStudios for ongoing support, upgrades and updates to their site to keep the content and integration fresh for their visitors. After we launched the initial web site for them, they have returned for a refresh to add items such as:
Polls give visitors the ability to voice their opinion on popular crimes.
We set up a number of new ways to load articles such as a highlighted quote option, allowing a story to be summarized while getting the reader hooked.
A new featured section for the home page allows the CrimeFeed staff to highlight recent articles of their choice.
