LexisNexis Web Services

LexisNexis Web Services serves as a massive national resource for lawyers and law firms. They provide online marketing, project management, and business development consultation for nearly 3,000 legal firm websites.

LexisNexis was seeking a modern technology that streamlined client support, as well as add new features that they could not add in the proprietary CMS their site was originally on. We created a WordPress Multisite network that powers the websites they build on their law firm based website service, LawLinks.

We built a custom WordPress theme with custom LexisNexis branding. This custom WordPress theme, tailored specifically to meet LexisNexis’ needs, makes it easy for law firms to update their content and any of the settings for features on their website like their contact form, directions to their offices, SEO, and more. Now both LexisNexis staff and clients can update their respective sites with ease without compromising the consistency that previously came with hiring multiple vendors to alter each theme individually.

Large Data Migration

We migrated the content of nearly 3,000 websites from a proprietary CMS into WordPress. Each website on the LexisNexis legacy platform had its own database, and although all of the databases had the same schema, this made the overall project challenging (and you know we love a challenge!). We built a custom migration script that started with a .sql file for one website and ended with all of its content on a new WordPress site as a part of their new multisite network.

Genesis Framework & Child Themes

Leveraging the Genesis theme framework and page scraping techniques, we were able to build a child theme for each of the migrated websites. By doing this, we essentially converted their existing look and feel into a WordPress theme. This was especially difficult because most of the legacy websites were built by multiple different vendors, which meant dealing with code inconsistency from site to site. By streamlining and automating the way they build and manage their clients sites, the current design saves LexisNexis both time and money.
