Partnership for Drug-Free Kids
The Partnership for Drug-Free Kids is a nonprofit organization that provides the public with crucial information, resources, and support for keeping children drug-free and healthy. Their vital work is focused on reducing teen substance abuse and helping to support families impacted by addiction.
WebDevStudios migrated content from 10 websites and encompassed five different content management systems into a single WordPress installation without any data loss. WordPress, BuddyPress, and bbPress were implemented to create a dynamic social community where members can help and support other members through support forums and topical groups.

The Community at DrugFree.org
The forums allow members to find help, obtain answers and connect with other members who may be experiencing similar challenges.
By offering a place for members to discuss their concerns around intervention, recovery, and treatment, Drugfree.org has facilitated the growth of a community that centers around helping one another out through their toughest times.
When visiting the forums landing page, members will see a ‘What’s Happening Now’ feature, which alerts them to the most recent activity on posts, new members, or updates to member profiles. By tying BuddyPress features directly into bbPress forums, we were able to cultivate an ever-growing and ever-changing community of members.
Member Activity
When someone becomes a member of DrugFree.org, they have access to various resources, one of which is sharing their stories. We installed BuddyPress so that members have the ability to interact with one another using the ‘Member Activity’ page. This is where members can access a feed of folks asking for help, giving advice, and connecting with the community. Members also have the ability to post to the feed and receive feedback.
Event Registration
The Partnership for Drug-Free Kids hosts charity events to fundraise and heighten awareness of their cause. They needed a way to publicize their upcoming events and showcase past events on their website, as well as the ability to sell tickets and set reservations.
To provide this feature for them, the WDS development team worked closely with the Drug-Free team to build the events section of their site, which now allows them to add new events, collect payments online for tickets/registration, and create event photo galleries, speaker lists, sponsor pages and more.
The result is an easy to use event registration system fully integrated into WordPress with tools that allow the staff to easily manage events and related content.
Comprehensive Drug Guide
It is necessary for Drug-Free to keep a current listing of drug information on their site as a resource for their community. To accomplish this, WebDevStudios developed a comprehensive yet easy to use taxonomy and tagging structure. Now, the team at Drug-Free can maintain this vital educational resource easily and on their own.
This has created an accessible drug guide for visitors of the website. Users can easily find the information they need, along with relevant and related content to help further their education and access to support. From an editorial standpoint, the team at Drug-Free have a simple interface that allows them to focus on creating the content with text, photos, and media.
