Because WebDevStudios Culture Day (our version of a one-day, virtual retreat) took place on the last Friday of May 2022, we skipped Five for the Future that month. However, we return to giving back to WordPress tomorrow!

That’s right. On Friday, June 24th, we’re back to Five for the Future (5FTF). That means WebDevStudios (WDS) will sponsor our team members’ contributions to WordPress and the WordPress community.

What to Expect

Yes! We are ready. Expect our team to work on things like:

  • Plugin development
  • Theme development
  • Accessibility projects
  • Block development
  • Translations
  • Continuing education
  • And more!

Be sure you’re following WDS and the hashtag #5FTF on Twitter. That’s where we like to share our contributions in real time.

April 5FTF

Our last 5FTF day took place on April 29, 2022. After infiltrating the exclusive WDS Five for the Future Slack channel, we were able to do a little eavesdropping and catch wind of the contributions our team aimed to make. Here are a few highlights.

“I think I’m going to split today between an attempted React app and some more CPTUIX work cause that one has me excited still.” –Michael Beckwith, Backend Engineer

“I’ll continue with an accessibility bar project I’ve been working on.” -Emilse Ormeno, Backend Engineer

“I’m looking at creating patterns for the pattern library.” –Lauren Pittenger, Frontend Engineer

“Today, I’m working on my Gutenberg block and blogging about what I’ve learned. I also want to give the new Local Headless thing a try.” –Lindsey Bell, Frontend Engineer

“Brainstorming ideas on how to automate PropType declarations through the shell. Happy to rubber duck on any Next projects going on to get in my practice, if anyone needs help.” –J.R. McCann, Frontend Engineer

“I’ll probably see if the theme review team needs any help. If not I’ll be digging into Next.js.” -Biplav Subedi, Backend Engineer

“I continue my work on my FSE theme, patterns, patterns and more patterns!” –Alfredo Navas, Frontend Engineer

“I’m continuing with plugin search improvements.” –Lax Mariappan, Backend Engineer

“I am trying to get a Next app running and connected to the LinkedIn profile API.” -Joel Schlotterer, Lead Engineer
