“A Way” to use WordPress Multi-Site

Margaret Roach’s A Way to Garden has been called “the best garden blog” by The New York Times.  The website is a wonderful source of information for anyone who is looking for gardening advice or inspiration.  Anyone who has spent some time at A Way to Garden knows one of Margaret’s favorite topics is her beautiful home and garden located in Hudson Valley, NY.  However, you may not be aware of how she ended up here.

This coming February, Margaret Roach’s new book And I Shall Have Some Peace There hits the shelves.  This memoir tells about Margaret’s leap from corporate life in New York City and Martha to country life in Hudson Valley and realizing one’s dreams.

We here at WebDevStudios are proud to say that we have had the privilege of working with Margaret on many of her projects and have been walking alongside her for over two years now, contributing our expertise to the various upgrades and redesigns A Way to Garden has gone through.

With the announcement of her upcoming book, Margaret was looking to give And I Shall Have Some Peace There it’s own home.  WebDevStudios used one of the great new features of WordPress 3.0 and enabled multi-site to quickly and easily provide Margaret with a new home for her book.

What’s especially great about the multi-site feature on 3.0 is that it’s a cost-effective way to create a new website.  Instead of starting with a brand new WordPress install, 3.0 allows you to activate multi-site and use your already installed themes and plugins on the new website just as you do on the current website.

WordPress 3.0’s multi-site function also allows the user to manage all of their websites from one admin dashboard making it quick and easy to add a new post or edit a page.

  1. Hey guys, I would have to agree that A Way to Garden is one of the best gardening blogs on the internet. I run a lawn and landscape business and look to A Way to Garden and Margaret for advice, I am happy to learn of her book and will surely be buying a copy. I also use WordPress for my website and have not needed the multisite function yet but sounds easy. Thanks for the good post!

    1. Hi Jason,
Thank you for your kind words! Magaret is an amazing gardener with great advice. I refer to her blog regularly for my new garden!

We recently helped another gardener, Kevin Lee Jacobs, move his blog from Blogger to WordPress. He covers a lot of indoor planting advice and even has some amazing recipes. You may want to check it out!
