WebDevStudios is very excited to announce that we are bringing on yet another great mind in the WordPress world. Welcome Greg Rickaby!
Greg’s interest in web design and technology all started his Junior year in high school when he took a class about layout and design using Adobe PageMaker. He also dabbled in some super basic HTML on Geocities using Notepad. Throughout high school he worked part-time at the local radio station. Greg landed his first real job in early 2000 as Assistant Webmaster at Midwest Communications in Green Bay, WI.
After a change in job and a move to Alabama, he started his own web design agency called “Wildfire Productions”. He helped clients of the radio station who didn’t have a website, build one to tie in with their radio commercials. Greg’s company was bought out after a successful run and he was made Partner at VeriQik Technology, where he learned about WordPress and Joomla!
In 2010 he started a new job as Chief Technology Officer at Bluewater Broadcasting in Montgomery, Alabama. In 2011, Greg started using the Genesis Framework for his PSD conversions and was promoted to Chief Engineer.
Finally, after three and half years at Bluewater, he accepted the position as Front-end Developer here at WebDevStudios! He’ll be working on converting client websites from Photoshop into custom themes. Greg is thrilled about no longer being on-call or having to worry about something at the radio station breaking while He’s on vacation!
He says:
I’m very excited to be a part of an agency that is on the forefront of both technology and community. They encourage us to contribute to WordPress, which I think is a great attitude to have toward a product that allows all of us to have cool jobs!
Outside of work, he’s married to his beautiful wife Tara, and father to a crazy kid named Chase. He loves to cook, enjoy the outdoors, including duck hunting, fishing and camping. Greg is a huge Green Bay Packers fan and loves to play Call of Duty on the Xbox!
Welcome to the team Greg!
