WDS is proud to announce one of our newest designers, Jay Wood!
Jay’s passion for computers began back in late 90′s when his wife, then girlfriend, gave him an old Tandy computer. Which he then took apart and put back together, after trying to connect to the then, new, internet. Once he graduated high school, Jay moved out of his parents house to the lower apartment, bought his own computer, and a book, PHP for Dummies.
He began learning PHP and playing around with it off and on. Never really getting serious for awhile until he read about MySQL and he thought, “how cool would it be to save information?” So then began the two year journey on learning PHP and MySQL integration. Over the next few years Jay refined his PHP skills and started looking into multiple CMS systems. Joomla was his first, followed by Drupal, and then WordPress. He has stuck with WordPress ever since and in his down-time he reads the documentation just for fun.
During his off time, Jay is a gamer and plugin hobbyist of sorts. He loves trying to integrate WordPress with other API’s when he can. Bascially, he likes pushing WordPress to it’s limit, and break it when possible. When he’s not working with code, Jay is managing a Minecraft server for friends and learning Laravel 4 as a side project. He loves learning new things and takes the chance when he can.
I’m excited to leave the freelance scene behind me and work with a team. Working for myself, by myself, for two years had grown tiresome and frustrating to find new clients. Working with WDS, I’ll get to have the workload I want, along with the guaranteed paycheck I need.
We are excited to see what Jay will offer to WDS and don’t forget, you can follow him on Twitter!
