WebDevStudios (WDS) is like a family, and during these stressful and challenging times, it’s great to have that dynamic. It’s even greater when that family grows by adding a new member. We’ve done just that. Please help us welcome Amor Kumar to our team. He joins us as a Frontend Engineer.
“I consider myself somewhat of a minimalist and I think this shows in the websites that I build,” Amor says, explaining how simplicity comes into play with his development work. “For example, I love implementing CSS only solutions when possible instead of adding even more JavaScript to already JS heavy pages. I believe that minimalism is also great for usability.”
One of Amor’s favorite books is Don’t Make Me Think, Revisited: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability because it argues that the most usable websites are ones where users don’t need to think about how to accomplish things; they just know. “I think that if you keep simplicity in mind when building websites, you’ll end up with a site that is easier to develop and maintain but also one that’s more usable,” says Amor.
He also says that what he enjoys most about working with WordPress is the flexibility. “As a developer, I can create complex sites that clients can easily update from the familiar WordPress admin dashboard,” he explains.
It was Oliver Harrison, Frontend Engineer, who told Amor about WDS and the open position. “He was raving about how much he loved working at WDS. He told me about the Frontend Engineer opening and I also thought I would be a great fit. Throughout the interview process, the thing that struck me most was how organized everyone was. I knew that this meant that when it came to getting work done, there would be fewer obstacles in my way.”
And now that it’s been a few weeks, Amor knows he made the right decision by joining our family. “I love working at WDS! The onboarding process couldn’t have gone better,” he reports, “The people that I work with are friendly and jump on every opportunity to help out their coworkers. The work that I’ve been doing has been challenging but rewarding. I’m looking forward to building awesome websites for all of WDS’ current and future clients!”
